Everything DiSC vs Extended DISC
Everything DiSC and Extended DISC are both workplace assessments built on the DISC model, and both are available in New Zealand. They differ in how they measure and present your style. We are an Accredited Wiley Partner and supply Everything DiSC, so this page sticks to what each publisher states, with sources at the end.
How they compare
Publisher
Everything DiSC: John Wiley & Sons (USA).
Extended DISC: Extended DISC International (Finland).
Origins
Everything DiSC: Built on the DISC model first proposed by William Moulton Marston in 1928. The Everything DiSC range launched in 2007.
Extended DISC: Began operations in Finland in 1994.
How results are shown
Everything DiSC: A circular map (the DiSC circumplex). Your dot's position shows your style and how strongly you lean towards it, alongside eight “priorities”.
Extended DISC: A diamond-shaped map, with separate results for your natural style and for how you feel you need to adjust at work.
The assessment
Everything DiSC: An adaptive online questionnaire of about 80 items, taking 15–20 minutes for the Workplace profile.
Extended DISC: An online questionnaire of about 10 minutes (the publisher’s figure).
Published reliability
Everything DiSC: Median internal consistency of .87 and two-week test-retest of .86 (Wiley research summary).
Extended DISC: Validated through regular worldwide studies. Reliability figures are not published on its public pages.
Team reports
Everything DiSC: A Comparison Report for any two people, plus Group Culture and Team View reports.
Extended DISC: Pair, team, group and organisation reports.
Buying in New Zealand
Everything DiSC: Through Wiley Authorized Partners, including us. $190 + GST for one profile, falling to $140 + GST each for 30 or more.
Extended DISC: Through HR Profiling Solutions, its Australasian distributor. Prices on request.
Which suits you
Both will give a team a shared language for working styles. Everything DiSC suits teams that want one map everyone can read, published reliability figures, and reports that compare two colleagues directly. Extended DISC suits organisations that want natural and adjusted styles reported separately.
Frequently asked questions
Are Everything DiSC and Extended DISC the same test?
No. Both use the four DISC styles (D, i, S, C), but they are different questionnaires from different publishers, scored and reported in different ways.
Can I compare an Extended DISC result with an Everything DiSC result?
Only loosely. The four styles line up, but the scales and maps differ, so a team should use one tool when comparing colleagues.
Can you run a team workshop if some of us have done Extended DISC?
Yes. Everyone would complete the Everything DiSC Workplace profile first (15–20 minutes online) so the whole team works from the same map.
